Today your mommy and I
Went for the 5th month Scan.
It was a target scan
To find out
If you had any anomalies.
No way my Angel!
You are unblemished!
And I sincerely hope
That you'll stay that way
All through your sojourn
In this wonderful magical world!
You were like an accomplished swimmer;
Joyously and effortlessly gliding
In the divine water
With panache
To wondrous accompanying music
Securely enclosed in protective membranes.
I saw your angelic face,
Well formed hands and legs;
The four chambers of your heart
That is soon going to be filled with love and joy!
Your Mommy has a joyous gripe against you
She even 'complained' to me the other day.
Yes! You kick!
Naughty, naughty, naughty!
But this is one kick
I am NEVER gonna ask you to stop!
We were thinking of names for you!
I suggested Pele, Maradona or Beckham!
Coz you kick so well
But Mommy says
You are way better than those guys
With a lot more variety
Than the bend-it-like-Beckhams
Or the Peleian bicycle kicks.
These days
I see Mommy's face
All beaming...
Grinning from ear to ear
Sometimes secretly smiling
Like a newly wed bride!
She looks so beautiful
Calm and composed.
I demand to know...
What’s going on...?
Between the two of you?
Already conspiring against me?
Don’t, don’t do that to me!
I'll do whatever you say,
Get you things even before you ask
Pluck the Moon?
Want the stars?
The golden rays of the evening sun...
Put in a bottle?
No problem!
All I ask is...
Let me too get a feel of you
Just like how Mommy feels you.
Alas, the naughty Maker
Wants us hapless Daddies to wait
To wait in impatient agony
Till you cherubs arrive.
Ok, I shall wait!
For I know
This is one wait
That is going to be worth it!
